Being asked to help out with a friend or family member’s branding and website is par for the course for a digital designer. With excellent art direction by Belgian interior designer Lola Cwikowski, I designed a branding system, website, and print and digital documents, in what has become an ongoing collaboration. For the site, a humble Squarespace template was transformed into a beautiful and refined portfolio for her minimalisme humaine interior projects around the world. Visit the site at lolacwikowski.com.
Working with Lola, I’ve taken on the role of a design factotum: writing descriptive copy for the projects (one of my favorites here); doing some photography, shown in the project above; and recently, supporting her client work. I’ve planned kitchen layouts using human-centered design methods, and have revived a dormant familiarity with 3D software to model custom furniture — such as the bespoke shoe cabinet and mirror combination at left, and the breakfast bar on the right. Lola’s work has been published on Dezeen and on Leibal, using my copywriting. Photographs: left © Ian Leighton; right © Alexander Bogorodskiy
